Heavy Metal: What is it? Why do so many people love it? Why do so many people hate it?
Few forms of music elicit such strong reactions as does heavy metal. Embraced by millions of fans, it has also attracted a chorus of critics, who have denounced it as a corrupter of youth -- even blamed it for tragedies...
The Kid's Talk Radio History Channel is going to take a look at heavy metal and the people behind it. We are going to start off with a series of articles about Bill Ward the drummer from the group Black Sabbath. Through Bill's eyes we are going to go behind stage and into the world of Heavy Metal. In addition we are going to invite others to share their reflections about why are so many fans in love with a musical genera called Heavy Metal.
When you read reviews of heavy metal you will just be stunned. I never saw so much hate and love for a musical form in all of my years of taking a close look at the music scene. So, in order to study the history of rock and roll in America we need to look at the sociology behind the heavy metal musical story. Our policy is to bring kids the news that they can use and at the same time I have to write articles for students that my mother can read. So, give me a break I am the messenger and I can tell this story without shocking the world. After all, they don't call this music heavy metal for nothing.
As a music reporter I try to keep an open mind and I write what I observe. I was impressed with Bill Ward. I liked where he was coming from as a person. He was warm, sensitive, kind, and very knowledge. Bill is a very articulate person. His ideas about music and where he is going in the future are worth your consideration. I never had the pleasure of seeing him perform in person. My interview of Bill Ward at Griffdog Music Studios is one that I will remember for a long time. There is more to Bill Ward than the general music fans realize. His roots in jazz has made it possible for him to put an extra edge on his drumming and the exciting part is what Bill Ward will be doing in 2008 and beyond.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-
Kid's Talk Radio History
By David BarbozaDid you know?
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, is much more than a museum. In addition to it's exhibits on the history of rock and other popular music, it's involved in education and outreach and has annual additions to it's list of notable music makers.
The Hall of Fame's exhibits are made up of artifacts, photos, and video divided into sections. From the musical beginnings of rock in blues, r & b, gospel, country, folk and bluegrass, to the music scenes in different cities and eras, to especially influential artists, to the latest chart-toppers, the museum covers a wide range.
The Hall of Fame's public programs are dedicated to the "celebration, study and interpretation of rock and roll music and it's roots". From concerts, to lectures and panel discussions, not only the music but also the social and cultural issues mixed up with it are explored.
The Hall of Fame constantly works to select artists and people who support them who had an especially large influence on rock and rock culture. These people are inducted (brought in) and celebrated with an annual ceremonies that are a cultural events in their own right and feature speeches by celebrities. Since 1986, inductees have been added every year, from Buddy Holly to B.B. King to the Beatles, Billy Joel, and Black Sabbath (and plenty of artists whose names don't start with "b"). Artists are rarely inducted during their period of highest popularity. Some time must pass for them to show that their influence has lasted.
So if you're in the Midwest and want to learn about more about the popular music of the last half-century, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a good bet.
